 Member - Place 4DR. CESAR MALDONADO is a Harlingen native and over the past 30 years has served in various leadership roles in the fields of engineering and management in the process, construction, and manufacturing industries. He is the President of Texas State Technical College in Harlingen and is serving his sixth year on the HCISD Board of Trustees. Dr. Maldonado holds the designation of Master School Board Trustee, has represented the region as a TASB Legislative Advisory Council member and has worked with the state legislature on education initiatives regarding school finance and science, technical, engineering and math education. He is a member of the Texas Business and Education Coalition and a former (two term) member of the Texas Emerging Technology Fund, where he served to advance collaboration between universities and business in state-wide economic development. Dr. Maldonado has held many public positions including service as a Member of the Texas P-16 Council, Chairman of the Harlingen Utility Board, the Harlingen Civil Service Commission, the Harlingen Economic Development Corporation and the Cameron County Workforce Development Board. He has also served as a director of Valley International Airport, Harlingen Industrial Foundation, and the Harlingen Area Education Foundation. Dr. Maldonado holds Bachelor and Masters of Science degrees in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University, and a Doctorate in Systems and Engineering Management from Texas Tech University. He is a member of the several academic honor societies. His business experience encompasses strategic planning, project management, infrastructure design, industrial systems and software design. He is also a professional engineer and a project management professional. Dr. Maldonado and his wife of 33 years, Liz, have three children, Kristin, Marcus, and Laura Rocha (Jason), and a granddaughter, Julianne. |
