Trustee, Cesar Maldonado

CESAR MALDONADO is a Harlingen native and has served in various leadership roles in the fields of engineering consulting, manufacturing and construction for 30 years. He is serving his second term on the HCISD Board of Trustees and currently holds the position of President. Maldonado has earned the designation of Master School Board Trustee and has also represented the region as a TASB Legislative Advisory Council member. His commitment to education includes serving as President of Tech Prep, RGV and as a member of the Texas Business and Education Coalition. As a member of the Texas Emerging Technology Fund, he serves to advance collaboration between universities and business in state-wide economic development. His current public service also includes serving on the Texas P-16 Council working on long-term alignment of the state’s education systems. Prior to being elected Trustee, Maldonado held many positions in public service including Chairman of the Harlingen Utility Board, the Civil Service Commission, the Harlingen Economic Development Corporation and the Cameron County Workforce Development Board. He has also served as a director of Valley International Airport, Harlingen Industrial Foundation, and the Harlingen Area Education Foundation. Maldonado holds Bachelor and Masters of Science degrees in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University, and is a member of the Engineering Honor Society. His business experience encompasses strategic planning, project management, infrastructure design, industrial systems and software design. He is currently the Vice President of Systems Development for Maverick Engineering, Inc. Maldonado and his wife of 31 years, Liz, have three children, Laura, Marcus and Kristin.
