OMAR CANO has been a member of the Harlingen CISD School Board since 1994 and was elected Secretary of the Board in 1995-1996, Vice-President in 1996-1997, President in 1997-1998, and President in 2004-2005. Mr. Cano has had a successful career as a local business owner and has been a professor at TSTC-Harlingen since 1992. He has also served on community boards including the Cameron County Appraisal Board and the Region One School Board Association for which he is incoming President this year. Additionally, Mr. Cano is a member of Texas Association of School Boards, affiliate member of the National School Board Association and member of the Human Anatomy and Physiology Society. He earned his Bachelor of Science and master's degree from Pan American University. Mr. Cano and his family are active members of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and he has resided in Harlingen all his life. |
