Crockett, Houston, Zavala Elementary Schools, along with Coakley, Memorial and Vernon Middle Schools received the exciting news that they had been selected to receive a Governor's Educator Excellence Award cycle 2 totaling $545,000 between the four campuses. This grant program awards funds to campuses that have high percentages of economically disadvantaged students and have demonstrated high levels of student performance at the elementary, middle and high school levels. Bonham, Dishman and Lamar Elementary Schools, along with Gutierrez and Vernon Middle Schools received the exciting news that they had been selected in addition to 1,163 other Texas schools to receive a Governor's Educator Excellence Award totaling $465,000 between the four campuses. This grant program awards funds to campuses that have high percentages of economically disadvantaged students and have demonstrated high levels of student achievement or marked improvement in student performance at the elementary, middle and high school levels.
