EXHIBIT A
SECONDARY STUDENT AGREEMENT FOR ACCEPTABLE
USE OF THE ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM
Students enrolled in Harlingen Public Schools may be given opportunity to access the HCISD electronic communications system. Through this system, students will be able to communicate with other schools, colleges, organizations, and people around the world through the Internet and other electronic information systems/networks. Students will also have access to hundreds of databases, libraries, and computer services all over the world.
With this educational opportunity comes responsibility. It is important that the student and his/her parent(s) read the District policy, administrative procedures, and agreement form available in the student handbook and/or District Web site and discuss these requirements together. Please ask questions if you have trouble understanding any of the requirements. Inappropriate system use will result in the loss of the privilege to use this educational tool.
Please note that the Internet is a network of many types of communication and information networks. It is possible that a student may run across areas of adult content and some material the student or parent(s) might find objectionable. While the District will take reasonable steps to restrict access to such material, it is not possible to absolutely prevent such access. It is the student's responsibility to follow the rules for appropriate use.
A student cannot be given access to the HCISD electronics communications system until both student and parent have read and signed this agreement.
