   Zachary Swanberg is the son Marshall and Kathleen Swanberg.  He is a senior at Harlingen High School.  He attended Pittman Elementary and St Paul Lutheran. Zachary’s scholastic and academic honors, recognitions and achievements include: Distiquished Student Achievement Program, People to People Student Ambassador-Australia and New Zealand, National Society of High School Scholars, Who’s Who Among High School Students and 1st Place (2yrs) District FFA Creed Speaking Competition. PTSA Involvement: Member for four years. Zachary’s extra-curricular Activities/School Clubs include: Member of  FFA where he serves as FFA Student Advisor. He attended  State Farm Leadership Conference and Tip-O-Tex Leadership Conference.  He participated in Homecoming activities as Homecoming Representative for FFA, Key Club, District Baseball-3rd Place, Nursery Landscape Team-9th in State, and Scuba Certified. Zachary’s civic and church involvement includes: St Paul Lutheran Church, Christian Outdoor Alliance Camp, Young Life, Wildlife Conservation, Donated clothing to Family Crisis Center and Shareable Wearables, he also volunteered  in a Farm Clean-up Animal prep thru FFA. Zachary works and average of 30 to 40 hrs a week. He owns his own fertilizing business.  He manages expenses and profits and has regular client base. He is dually enrolled in classes thru TSTC. Zachary plans to attend Texas A & M University and study Wildlife and Fishery Science.
Why you wish to be selected as PTSA student of the Month? Quote: “I believe that I would be a great candidate for student of the month because I believe that I would express the central ideas surrounding what a student of the month is chosen for. Qualities such as leadership, responsibility, and the will to succeed”.



   Arturo Ayala Jr. “AJ” is the son of Arturo and Yvonne Ayala. He is a senior at Harlingen High School.  He attended Long Elementary and Memorial Middle School. AJ’s scholastic and academic honors, recognitions and achievements include: Freshman Class top 4%, Sophomore Class top 3 %, Junior class top 2%, Texas scholar, Outstanding Student Achievement Award (Alg. 2). All “A” Honor Roll, Inducted into National Honor Society, Ranked 11th in his Senior Class, and 2nd Team All Valley Tennis for 06-07. PTSA Involvement:Member all four years. AJ extra-curricular Activities/School Clubs include:  Varsity Tennis 2005-2008, National Honor Society 2006-2008, PTSA 2004-2008, Tennis Club Vice President 2006-2007, freshman Tennis 2004-2005 and Tennis Club from 2007-2008. AJ’s civic and church involvement includes: Member of St Anthony’s Youth Group.  He has volunteered numerous hours to vacation bible school and Ronald McDonald House. AJ is dually enrolled in classes thru TSTC. He plans to attend University of Texas at Austin and study pharmacy. Why you wish to be selected Student of the Month? Quote: “I have been looking forward to (being selected student of the month) since I was a freshman.  Every school year I set goals for myself to achieve, and this year becoming student of the month is up on the top of that list”.



   Courtney Lester, daughter of Dennis and Janice Lester, is a senior at Harlingen High School South. Courtney attended St. Alban's Episcopal Day School and Coakley Middle School. Courtney's scholastic, academic honors, recognitions and achievements throughout her high school years include being at the top 10% of her class, All "A" Honor Roll, and named Who's Who Among American High School Student Scholar for her junior and senior year. She was also nominated in the People to People Student Ambassador Program her junior year. Courtney's other achievements include receiving the Senior Jazz Dance Scholarship from the Texas Association Teachers of Dance, State Solo and Ensemble Contest for 1st and 2nd divisions, and coming in I 't in the 100 meter Track District Meet her sophomore year. Courtney has been a member of PTSA her freshman through senior year. Courtney has been involved as a student/assistant instructor with McMillan School of Dance, band as a drum line captain, National Honor Society, Ecology Club, Interact Club, KSHS Channel 11/2 her senior year and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes her junior year. Her civic, church and volunteer organizations include the St. Anthony’s Church Youth Group, Youth Leadership Harlingen, Religious Education Teacher, Eucharist Minister, HEB's Feast of Sharing as well as being involved with the Rotary Clubs Adoption Awareness Picnic and the Trash Bash project. Other projects include the Catholic Heart Work Camp Team Member, Relay for Life and helping with the Lower Valley cotillion Club. Courtney states in her application that she knows what she wants to do in life and has worked hard to achieve what she has achieved. Courtney plans to attend Texas State University and study Nutrition, Business and Dance.



   Taylor Wesson is a senior at Harlingen High School South and is our May recipient for Student of the Month. He is the son of Jim and Susan Wesson. Taylor attended Treasure Hills Elementary and Coakley Middle School. Taylor's scholastic, academic honors, recognitions and achievements include Texas Scholar, State marching Band, All Valley and pre Area Trumpet and State Solo and Ensemble. His PTSA Involvements and activities as well as office positions include being a PTSA member throughout his high school years, being a PTSA student newsletter chair, and collecting money for Sunny Glenn's Children's Home. Taylor's extra-curricular activities and school clubs include the Marching Band, Jazz Band I, Wind Ensemble, Salsa Band and the Interact Club. Taylor's civic, church and volunteer organizations include being an active member of the First Baptist Church including helping with Vacation Bible School as well as being a member of the Praise Band at the First Baptist Church. He was a summer volunteer at Valley Baptist Medical Center for 3 years, as well as being involved with the Harlingen Youth Leadership Class his senior year. He has also taken Mission Trips to Mexico and helped with construction projects for Hurricane Rita. Taylor states in his application that he plans to take advantage of opportunities while pursuing his degree that will allow him to not only be successful in life, but make a significant contribution to his community. Taylor plans to study Science but says he has yet to decide where he plans to attend.



   Joshua Bennett is the son of Scott and Leisa Bennett. He is a senior at Harlingen High School.  He attended Calvary Christian School. Joshua’s scholastic and academic honors, recognitions and achievements include: Top 13% of his class, Top 10% his freshman year, National Honor Society, and Senior Class Vice- President.  He was chosen as student ambassador to Australia and Nominated to represent HHS at Boys State. PTSA Involvement: Joshua has been a member of PTSA all four years and served as Historian his sophomore year.  He participated in the feast of sharing, helped prepare thanksgiving baskets for Zavala Elementary families, volunteered at Loaves and Fishes, participated in the school beautification project, and was homecoming and Mardi Gras representative. Joshua’s extra-curricular Activities/School Clubs include: Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Student Council, Football, Baseball, Basketball, Golf, and Young Life. Joshua’s civic and church involvement includes: Young Life. Joshua works an average of 10 hrs a week. He is dually enrolled in classes thru TSTC. Joshua plans to attend Texas A & M University and study Industrial Distribution.
Quote: His goal is: “to get a degree in Industrial Distribution so that I may own my own business.  This degree will also aid me in traveling the world because most of the products distributed in the U.S. are made overseas.  I also have a dream to be in the U.S. military to defend my country wherever I am needed.  I will help myself in the process by attending A & M University and joining the corps of cadets”.



   Sabrina Santillan is the daughter on Andy and Estella Santillan.  She is a senior at Harlingen High School.  He attended Calvary Christian School. Sabrina’s scholastic and academic honors, recognitions and achievements include: Top 10% for 3 years, Honor Roll, Texas Scholar, Tech Prep, and Art Association Vice President.  She was nominated for the Presidential Classroom Award and Border Patrol “Head of the Class”. PTSA Involvement: She is a current member of PTSA. Sabrina’s extra-curricular Activities/School Clubs include:  Member of the Track Team, volleyball Team, Basketball Team, Cross Country Team, National Honor Society, Treasurer, Art Association, PTSA, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Lower Valley Cotillion Club and Sophomore Class President. Sabrina’s civic and church involvement includes:  Member of the Arroyo 4-H President and Queen of Peace Church. She has volunteered numerous hours to: Harlingen Proud Trash Bash, South Padre Island Beach Clean-up, Peer Tutoring, Calvary Christian School annual festival and Cameron County Extension Office-gift wrapping project. Sabrina is employed and works an average of 20 hours a week.  She is dually enrolled in classes thru TSTC. Sabrina plans to attend Texas A & M University and study Business.

   Zachary Taylor, son of Robert and Melanie Taylor is a senior at Harlingen High School South. Zachary attended Calvary Christian School for both elementary and middle school classes. Zachary has been a member of PTSA throughout his four years at Harlingen South. Zachary's scholastic, academic honors, recognitions and achievements include the National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, the Mark Hensz Hustle Award as well as being in the top 10% of his class throughout his high school years. He received the Harlingen South Technology Systems Outstanding Accomplishment Award, was named in the Who's Who of the Leadership 2007-2008 class and Who's Who among American High School Students. He was also named in the National Society of High School Scholars. Zachary's extra-curricular Activities and School Clubs include being in the Football and Basketball program, involved in Hawks for Christ, Harlingen South Tech Academy, FFA Entomology Team and the Masquerade Court. He has also been involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Club, the Harlingen Summer Basketball League and the Boys and Girls Club Basketball League. Zachary's civic, church and volunteer organizations include the First Christian Church Youth Group, Young Life, American Cancer Society Relay for Life and the FCA's Fields of Faith. He has also been involved with Praise on the Hill, HEB Feast of Sharing, the Harlingen Police Dept. Christmas Wrap Drive, Harlingen Proud and See You at the Pole. Zachary stated in his application that through his actions, it is his hope that others will be inspired to strive for excellence in all they do. Zachary works an average of 15 hours per week plans to attend the Ozark Christian College or Dallas Christian College. He plans on studying Church Leadership and Biblical Studies at one of these Colleges.



   April Michelle Juarez is the daughter of Sylvia Rios and the late Andres Juarez and is a senior at Harlingen High School South. She attended Travis Elementary School and Vernon Middle School. April `s scholastic, academic honors, recognitions and achievements throughout her high school years include being regional and state qualifier in cross-examination debate, district and state qualifier in public speaking II for FBLA as well as district and state qualifier in retail merchandising for Texas DECA during her senior year. She has received the Spanish IV AP Achievement Award and place 3rd in the Novice Lincoln Douglas Debate during her freshman year. April was also named to the Who's Who among American High School Students.  April participates as a National High School Scholar, Texas Scholar, Tech Prep student, PAP, and served three years on the Masquerade court. Her PTSA Involvement and activities include participating in the Sunny Glenn Children's Home, Toys for Tots, the Ronald McDonald House and helping with Cards for Soldiers. April's extra-curricular activities and school clubs involve the Speech Drama Debate Team, Student Council, Upward Bound Math and Science, PTSA, FBLA, Decca, the Ecology Club. She has also been active and involved in the Key Club, Spanish Club, Gear-Up program and the National Technical Honor Society. Her civic, church and volunteer organizations include being involved with the Sunny Glenn Children's Home, Ronald McDonald House, Loaves and Fishes, Su Clinica Familiar and the Harlingen Proud Trash Bash. She has also volunteered with the St. Anthony's Vacation Bible School, the HEB Feast of Sharing, Valley Baptist and Rio Fest. April feels her biggest accomplishment so far is graduating from the University of Texas of Brownsville this May of 2008 with an associate's degree in art. She also stated that if selected PTSA student of the month, she plans to showcase to all to be a positive role model and be the best that you can be.



   Stephanie Lynn Huerta is the daughter of Melva Huerta. She is a senior at Harlingen High School.  She attended James Bowie Elementary and Gutierrez Middle School.Stephanie’s scholastic and academic honors, recognitions and achievements include: Top 10% of her class, National Honor Society, National Honor Roll Society, National Society of High School Scholars, Harlingen Youth Leadership.  She was nominated to the National Youth Leadership Forum of Medicine and selected to participate at 2007 National Honors Convocation. Stephanie’s PTSA Involvement Include: Current member and participated in the feast of sharing Stephanie’s extra-Curricular Activities include and School Clubs include: Member of Upward Bound Math and Science, Science Club, Key Club, National Honor Society, Student Council, Art Club and Technology Academy. She is also a member of the Volleyball Team, Basketball Team and Track Team Stephanie’s church activities include: Alter server, Fiesta de Amistad, and Cutting Palm trees for Palm Sunday   Her volunteer activities include countless hours to Trash Bash, Relay for Life, Alzheimer Walk, Retama Manor, Feast of Sharing, Ronald McDonald House, Sunny Glen Children’s Home, and collecting can goods for the needy. Stephanie is employed and works an average of 15 hours a week.  She is also enrolled in She plans to attend St. Mary’s University and study medicine.

   Andrew Salem Johnson is the son of Wendell Johnson and Alicia Johnson.  Andrew is a senior at Harlingen High School.  He attended St Alban and Calvary Christian Schools. Andrew’s scholastic and academic honors, recognitions and achievements include: National Hispanic Scholar, Texas Boys State Lt. Governor, Coca Cola Scholarship recipient, Homecoming Duke and Homecoming King, Texas Music Scholar, All-Region Orchestra, District Band, UIL State Solo and Ensemble, District, Regional and State qualifier in Swimming, Eagle Boy Scout, Junior Class Vice President, Jr/Sr. Prom Coordinator, American Red Cross CPR, AED, PDT, for professional rescues and Valedictorian of the Class of  2008. Andrew is a member of PTSA. Andrew’s extra-Curricular Activities and /or School Clubs include: Member and Captain of the varsity swim team, member of  the Math Club, Honor Band, Jazz Band, Orchestra, Student Government, Coop, HHS Beautification Committee, and National Honor Society, Andrew’s Civic, Church and Volunteer Organizations include:  UTB Community Orchestra, Harlingen Bible Worship Team Lead Bassist, Harlingen Baptist Church Your Group Mentor, Loaves and Fishes, Relay for life coordinator, summer Medical Institute translator, Marine Military Academy office assistant tutor, South Padre Island Beach Clean-up, and National Federation of Music Clubs. Andrew is employed and works an average of 15 hours a week.  He is undecided on where he wants to attend college but knows he wants to study business management.



   Heidi Michelle Hensz, daughter of Allen and Michelle Hensz is a senior at Harlingen High School South. She attended Calvary Christian School, St. Paul Lutheran School and Coakley Middle School. Heidi’s scholastic, academic honors, recognitions and achievements include being on the Harlingen High School South’s honor roll as a freshman and continuing this path through her senior year. Her PTSA involvement, offices and activities are being a member her four years at South, beautification student chairman her freshman year, Rio Fest volunteer her freshman and sophomore year scholarship student chair her junior year as well as the fundraiser student chair her senior year. Extra-curricular activities and school clubs include FCA, volleyball (playing for varsity her junior and senior year), Varsity basketball and softball her freshman and sophomore years, district cross country as a freshman, FFA during her Senior year and golf her senior year. Heidi’s civic, Church and volunteer organizations during her South’s years include fellowship of Christian Athletes, Young Life, Youth Group and Monthly Missions with First Baptist Church. Heidi plans to attend Lindenwood University and study nutrition. She states in her application that there are hundreds of things in life worth working for and that is goals. She looks at goals as something to be accomplished and then move on to another. PTSA student of the month was one of her goals.



   Peter Emilo Maldonado is a senior at Harlingen High School South and is the son of Janice Maldonado and Carlos Maldonado. He attended Stuart Place Elementary and Gutierrez Middle School. He has been at the top 10 percent of his class all four of his years at South. He was Homecoming Duke his sophomore year and named Homecoming King his senior year. He also was a member of masquerade court as a freshman, sophomore, junior and senior year. Peter was named to the Baseball All District Honorable Mention Outfield his sophomore year and Baseball All District 2nd team outfield his junior year and was named the “Team Most Improved” his junior year. As a senior, he was named the football “All District 1st Team Receiver.” His PTSA involvements include being a member throughout his high school years and helping with the Salvation Army Angel Tree fundraising and the Angel Tree gift buying. His extra-curricular activities and school clubs include National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, football, basketball, track and baseball. He is also a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Peter’s civic, church and volunteer organizations include the First Baptist Church Youth group, First Baptist Mission, Vacation Bible School and Fall Festival helper at First Baptist Church. He has also been instrumental in helping with Relay for Life his freshman, sophomore and junior year. Peter plans on attending Texas A&M University at College Station and studying medicine or sports medicine. In reading Peter’s application, several teachers wrote that Peter is a perfect example of what a student of the month should be. Peter stated that it would be a great honor to represent such a wonderful organization.



   Sarah Tolar is a senior at Harlingen High School South and is the daughter of Diana and Gregory Toler.  She attended Treasure Hills Elementary, and Coakley Middle School. Sarah’s scholastic, academic honors, recognitions and achievements include being president of the sophomore class, elected parliamentarian of FCCLA in her senior year and being elected secretary of Key Club.  She has been on the all “A: honor roll during her sophomore, junior and senior year and was a member of the Masquerade Court during her freshman, sophomore and junior year. Sarah was Homecoming Class representative her freshman year and received the Varsity Cheerleading Leadership Award in the 9th and 12th grades.  She was the National Forensics League State Qualifier in Duet Acting her freshman year. Sarah has been active in PTSA collecting money, purchasing and distributing Christmas presents to children and Sunny Glenn Children’s Home.  She was head of the Heart Monitor awareness fundraising committee her junior year. Sarah’s extra-curricular activities and school clubs include freshman cheerleading as captain and varsity cheerleading as co-caption.  She was also a member of the Valley All-Sarah competition cheerleading squad.  She is a member of the Lower Valley Cotillion Club and the Palm Valley Gymnastics and Dance Junior Company.  She is involved in several speech, drama debate activities as well as one act play her freshman and sophomore year.  Sarah was Varsity Tennis Team her sophomore and junior year.  She is currently a member of the National Technical Honors Society and in the Technology Academy program.  Her Club memberships include Key Club, Ecology Club, Young Life Youth Group, Student Council, Leo Club, Interact Club and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.  She is also a senior class Executive Member. Sarah Tolar’s civic, church and volunteer organizations include volunteering for the Jerry Lewis Telethon, Judging for Coakley Middle Schools UIL tournaments and Harlingen South’s SIDID tournament.  She also volunteered weekly for the Humane Society as well as the Harlingen Public Library her junior year.  She has helped with the First Baptist Church Fall Festival, the Habitat for Humanity, Relay for Life, Feast of Sharing and the American Heart Association’s Heart Walk.  She volunteered for the reforestation with the Ecology Club and helped with the local cemetery cleanup during her freshman year. Sarah works an average of 20 hours per week and plans to attend the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York.  She has been accepted to Pace University in New York as well.  Sarah plans on studying fashion design and textile and surface design. Sarah states that her work ethic and experience she has gained throughout her high school years will guide her towards her goals that she will accomplish in the near future.



   Mia Aguilar is a senior at Harlingen High School South and is the daughter of Gilbert and Rosie Aguilar.  Mia attended St. Albans Day School, Stuart Place Elementary and Gutierrez Middle School. Mia’s scholastic, academic honors, recognitions and achievements include being on the all “A” honor roll throughout her high school years, ranked number 3 out  of 403 seniors of the class  of 2008 and has received her letterman jacket for three consecutive years for the top 10 percent of her class.  During her freshman year, Mia received the Medical Terminology Outstanding Achievement Certificate, the Pre-AP World Geography and Pre-AP Biology Outstanding Achievement Certificates.  As a junior she received the AP English III Outstanding Achievement Certificate as well as the NSAA National English Merit Award. Mia’s extra curricular activities and school clubs include being involved with the Mighty Hawk Marching Band, wind ensemble, Jazz 1Ensemble and drumline. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Ecology Club, Academic Decathlon, student Council as well as joining Key Club her senior year. Her civic, church and volunteer organizations include NHS, HEB’S Thanksgiving Feast of Sharing, and a volunteer for the annual band BBQ, Decathlon Regional Tournament. She was also a volunteer as a Keyboard Soloist for the choir UIL. Mia plans to attend Rice University and study pre-medicine with a biology and mathematics major and minor in English. Her long term goal is to become a pediatrician and ultimately open her own clinic. Mia states in her application that it would be a privilege to be selected Student of the Month, because of the distinguished honor it represents.



   Lauren Woodard is the daughter of Jeff and Jackie Woodard.  She is a senior at Harlingen High School.  She attended Memorial Elementary in Weslaco, St Alban’s Episcopal School, and Calvary Christian School. Lauren’s scholastic and academic honors, recognitions and achievements include: Top 10% of her class all four years, Outstanding BCIS Student (9th), National Honor Society, National Honor Roll Society, 1st runner-up 2008 Mardi Gras Princess, and  selected to attend the National Hispanic Institute Summer Conferences. Lauren’s PTSA Involvement Include: Serving as PTSA Hospitality Co-Chair her sophomore year, PTSA Parent Teacher Liaison her junior year and currently serves as PTSA Hospitality Chairperson.  Lauren participated in the following PTSA projects: Red Ribbon Week, Tailgate Party Volunteer, Mardi Gras Decorations, and Thanksgiving Basket Distribution. Lauren’s extra-Curricular Activities and /or School Clubs include: Member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes where she held an office her junior year.  Member of the Student Council, National Honor Society, PTSA, Lower Valley Cotillion Club and  Art Association where she currently serves as President.  An additional extra curricular activity Lauren enjoys is showing horses at Horse Shows. Lauren’s church activities include: member of her church group, member of “generation impact”, and ministering in Brownsville and Mexico.  Her civic and volunteer activities include participating in Relay for Life, The Heart Walk, Youth Leadership Harlingen and volunteering numerous hours with veterinarian, Dr. Pikard. Lauren is employed and works an average of 15 hours a week.  She plans to attend Texas A & M College Station and study animal science.

   Ernesto Silva II is the son of  Ernesto Silva and Dorraine Araiza.  Ernesto is a senior at Harlingen High School.  He attended Jane W. Long Elementary and Memorial Middle School. Ernesto’s scholastic and academic honors, recognitions and achievements include: Top 10% for four years,  Honor Roll for four years, Super Cardinal for 3 years, All-State Men’s Choir for 1 year, Regional Tennis Team for 2 years, District Varsity Tennis Champs for 1 year, 2nd Place District Jr. Varsity Tennis  for 2 years, and 1st place Texas Bowling Championships-YABA. PTSA Involvement:  Ernesto participated in PTSA sponsored projects such as: Mardi Gras Dance, Red Ribbon Week, Open House, Relay for Life Walk, and School Beautification. Ernesto’s extra-Curricular Activities and /or School Clubs include: Member of the varsity tennis team, varsity choir, rotary club, youth Leadership of Harlingen, National Technical Honor Society, National Honor Society, Student Council, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Leadership Club and Class Council where he currently serves as Treasurer, Ernesto’s Civic, Church and Volunteer Organizations include:  Loaves and Fishes, Christmas Carols of Orphans and Retirement, Boys and Girls Club BBQ, Magical Christmas for Needy Children, Saint Anthony Fall Festival, and Rotary Interact. Ernesto is employed and works an average of 15 hours a week.  He plans to attend the Texas State University and study medicine and / or pharmacy.

   Laura Frances Marie DuBose is the daughter of Dennis and Michell DuBose. She attended Stuart Place Elementary, St. Paul Lutheran School and Vernon Middle School. Laura’s achievements, academic and scholastic honors and recognitions include being in the Top 10 percent of her class throughout her high school years, NFL national qualifier for original oratory, and TFL state qualifier in duet. She has also received awards in PAP English I & II, PAP Algebra II, Theater Production II, the PAP Physics Award and the Spanish I Awards. Laura was in Who’s Who for the years 2005 and 2006, National Honor Roll in 2005-2006 and was most recently a Regional Qualifier in UIL District where she received a 2nd Place in Prose. She has been involved in PTSA during her four years at South and most recently participated in the Angle Tree Donation Drive. Laura’s extra-curricular activities and school clubs include, National Honor Society, Ecology Club, speech, drama, debate team and One Act Play. She is also a member of the Harlingen South Color Guard and a member of the Theater Departments fall and spring production in grades 9th through 12th. Laura’s civic, church and volunteer organizations include Harlingen Performing Arts Theater, assistant director for children’s series performer as well as being involved in the choreography, lighting and sound area. Laura is employed for an average of seven hours a week, and is planning on attending Sam Houston State University where she plans to study Musical Theater, and Education. Laura states in her application that she also plans a possible career in New York as a Broadway Actress. She hopes to attain this by getting a degree in college while participation in camps at prestigious theater schools.



   Jamie Freeman, son of Tommy and Linda Freeman is a senior at Harlingen High School South. Jamie attended Stuart Place and Woodriver Elementary as well as Gutierrez and Calallen Middle School. Included as his Scholastic, Academic, Recognitions and Achievements throughout his high school years are being in the Top 10 percent of his class, being on the Entomology Team, where he placed 8th at state competition, National Honor Roll and Defensive MVP for the baseball team. Jaime’s PTSA activities and involvement include being a PTSA member his freshman through senior years, raising money for Sunny Glenn and the Boys and Girls Club. His extra-curricular activities and school clubs are Future Farmers of America, National Technical Honor Society, and National Honor Society. Jamie is also active in football, basketball, and key club. As for his civic, church and volunteer organizations, Jamie has been involved with the FCC youth group, youth leadership of Harlingen, Young Life, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Relay for Life. Jamie plans to attend Texas A&M University and plans to study agriculture or business. Jaime acknowledges that he loves to compete, so being a PTSA student of the month, would not only be an honor, but would allow him to continue his fourth year as a PTSA member to be the best seller, money raiser or worker in whatever activity the group is doing.



   Whitney Rae Meier is the daughter of Robert and Tammy Meier. Whitney is a senior at Harlingen High School. She attended Middle Valley Christian, Gutierrez Middle School and Calvary Christian School. Whitney’s scholastic and academic honors, recognitions and achievements include: Honor Roll, Mardi Gras Court, homecoming representative, and Best Sportsmanship 2007. Her PTSA Involvement Includes: PTSA member all four years. She has participated in and assisted with Mardi Gras Court and homecoming decorations. Whitney’s extra-curricular Activities/School Clubs includes: Tennis for three years, as a member of Cards for Christ, she served as historian, Fellowship of Christian Athletes co-captain, student council and PTSA. Whitney’s civic and church involvement includes: She is a member of the First Baptist Church, Young Life Harlingen and Lower Cotillion Club Whitney has volunteered countless hours with Vacation bible school leader, Team Kids, Teach the Children, Beach Clean-up, CHAMPS Tennis, and Bea’s Playschool. She is currently enrolled in classes through TSTC. She plans to attend Texas A & M Kingsville and major in Education. Whitney would like to be a teacher because, “I want to be able to help children by instilling in them a love of learning”.



   Jonathan Davis is the son of Robert and Gracie Davis. Jonathan is a senior at Harlingen High School. He attended James Bowie and Memorial Middle School. Jonathan’s scholastic and academic honors, recognitions and achievements include: Top 1 percent and “A” Honor Roll all four years. National Hispanic Merit Scholar, AP Scholar. Jonathan has had perfect attendance kinder through 12 grade. His PTSA Involvement Includes: Jonathan is a PTSA member where he currently serves as Historian chairman and participated with Mardi Gras decorations, teacher socials, tailgate barbeque, HHS open house and PTSA membership drive and Red Ribbon Week. Jonathan’s extra-curricular Activities/School Cubs includes: Member of the Football Team, Student Council where he serves as Parliamentarian, National Honor Society where he serves as Parliamentarian, PTSA where he serves as Historian, Science Club, UIL Science, Track and Field, and Business Professionals of America. Jonathan’s civic and church involvement includes: Jonathan has volunteered numerous hours at his church Fall Festival, National Honor Society Blood Drive, tutoring elementary students, Adopt an Angel, Mission Mississippi and religion classes. Jonathan is currently enrolled in classes through TSTC. He plans to attend the University of Texas at Austin and plans to study business. Jonathan takes pride in his perfect attendance record, not only in high school, but throughout his elementary and middle school years. He states: Discipline, attendance and being goal-oriented will help me to accomplish in life what I have been asked to accomplish in my four years of high school.



   Anthony Dominguez, son of Daniel and Luz Dominguez has also been selected as our December Student of the Month. Anthony is a senior at Harlingen High School South and has attended St. Anthony’s Catholic School, Travis and Stuart Place Elementary as well as Gutierrez Middle School. Anthony’s scholastic achievements, recognitions and academic honors include receiving a lettermen jacket and patches for swimming during his 9, 10 and 11th grade, for soccer his sophomore year and for choir his sophomore, junior and senior year. He was sixth chair All-Region Choir member his junior year. He was a qualifier, for state solo and ensemble competition as well as for the Texas University Interscholastic League State Swimming and Diving Meet his junior year. Anthony was the Hugh O’Brian Youth National Representative for the Texas Recognition Program his senior year. He has been in the top 10 percent of his class throughout his high school years. Anthony has been involved in PTSA since his freshman year. Anthony’s extra-curricular activities/school clubs throughout his high school years include the varsity swim team, student council, national honor society, varsity choir mixed ensemble, varsity choir men’s ensemble, and varsity soccer. He is also involved in the fellowship of Christian Athletes Club as well as the Future Business Leaders of America. His civic, church and volunteer organizations include the church youth group, the Ronald McDonald House and the Easter Seals organization. Anthony plans on attending MIT University and plans on studying aerospace engineering and or business management. Anthony states that he plans to accomplish all his goals with hard work, determination, and strong work ethic, which has never seemed to fail him before in the process of obtaining other goals.



   Alyssa Danielle Trevino, daughter of Albert & Edna Trevino, is a senior at Harlingen High School South. Alyssa attended Travis Elementary, St. Anthony’s Catholic School and Gutierrez Middle School. Alyssa’s scholastics achievements, recognitions and academic honors include, junior and senior class treasurer, a member of Teen Academy for 2004-2008, involved in dual enrollment summer classes for 2007 and concurrent enrollment for 2007-2008. Alyssa had competed at local and solo ensemble where she ranked second. Alyssa has been a member of PTSA from 2004-2008. Her extra-curricular activities and school clubs include, varsity choir, key club, student council from 2004-2008, co-editor of yearbook for the year 2005-2006. She also helped organize the 2007 prom, helped run the homecoming parade and has been a dancer at McMillan School of Dance. She is also involved with Interact Club, Ecology Club, FCA and HOSA or (Health Occupations Student of America). Alyssa’s church, civic and volunteer organizations from grades 9-12th are the Lower Valley Cotillion Club, 2006-2007 Cotillion Debutant, 2007-2008 and a Cotillion member. She taught CCD classes, and is involved in St. Anthony’s Youth Club. Alyssa has volunteered for Loaves and Fishes as well as Feast of Sharing, American Heart Association, Relay for Life and the Beach Clean-Up Campaign. Alyssa works 12 hours a week, plans to attend St. Mary’s University and major in Pre-Med. She states that helping out in her community has taught her to appreciate her life and hoping that she can be a role model to others in doing so.



   Danielle Ault is the daughter of Mike and Debbie Finch. Danielle is a senior at Harlingen High School. She attended Long Elementary and St. Paul Lutheran Schools. Danielle’s scholastic and academic honors, recognitions and achievements include: Top 10 percent of her class for her freshman year. Top 11 percent from grades 10 through 12 National Honor Society grade 12. Danielle has maintained honor roll status from grades 1 thru 12. Her PTSA Involvement Includes: PTSA member where she has participated with the Mardi Gras decorations committee, 3 yrs; American Heart Walk, 3 yrs; homecoming decorations committee, 3 yrs; Relay for Life, 4 yrs; Christmas basket volunteer, 2 yrs; Loaves and Fishes Thanksgiving Set-up, 3 yrs; and mardi gras elections, 3 yrs. Danielle’s extra-curricular Activities/School Clubs include:
Member of the varsity swimming, track and field, Future Farmers of America, DECA, Fellowship Christian Athletes, and PTSA. Danielle’s civic and church involvement includes: Danielle has devoted countless volunteer hours to Jump Rope for Heart, Harvest Fest, Relay for Life, Riofest, Ronald McDonald House, Loaves and Fishes, Young Life and TIFT. Danielle is employed and works an average of 15 hours a week. She plans to attend Texas A & M, Corpus Christi and major in pre-med. Danielle said one of her biggest accomplishments at Harlingen High School is being a positive role model”.



   Joshua Robert Chavez is the son of Robert and Rachel Chavez. Joshua is a senior at Harlingen High School. He attended St. Albans Episcopal Day School and Memorial Middle School. Joshua’s scholastic and academic honors, recognitions and achievements include: Top 10 percent of his class his Freshman, Sophomore and Junior year. Joshua was recognized at the state level for his PTA Reflections ART entry. He is also recognized as a Texas Scholar and Distinguished Graduate. Joshua enrolled in all pre-AP and AP courses and was exempt from the high school state required TAKS test. PTSA Involvement: Joshua has been a member of PTSA all four years and has participated in various club sponsored activities. Joshua’s extra-curricular Activities/School Clubs include: Varsity Tennis, Tennis Club, National Honor Society, Art Association, Spanish Club, PTSA, Varsity Tennis Team Captain, Tennis District Champ 06-07 (Jr. yr), Ranked top 70 in United States Tennis Association Super Champ in the 18 and under Division, 2007-08 Tennis Team District Champs. Joshua’s civic and church involvement includes: Participating in teaching a child the game of tennis during the summer for two to three hrs every other day, assisted with local tennis tournaments, and assisted in registering eligible voters. He is currently enrolled in classes through TSTC. He plans to attend U.S Military Academy in West Point and major in physical therapy but ultimately undecided. Joshua is described by teachers as: Self-motivated, challenges himself with high academic goals, hard worker and leads by example.



   Eli Joseph Perez, son of Joe and Sylvia Perez, is a senior at Harlingen High School South.  Eli attended Treasure Hills Elementary and Coakley Middle School.  Eli’s scholastic achievements, recognitions and academic honors include:  Scholar Finalist, National Hispanic Recognition Program, USA National Minority Leadership Award, National Society of High School Scholars, ranked number nine out of 403 students and has been in the top 10 percent of his class throughout his high school years.  He has also been on the all “A” honor roll, made a “4” on the A.P. World History Test in his sophomore year, and received his letterman jacket for basketball during his junior year. Eli’s PTSA activities included being vice-president his freshman year, publicity officer his junior year, as well as student liaison his senior year and Relay of Life his freshman through his junior years.  He was instrumental in fundraising for the Sunny Glen Children’s Home, Boys and Girls Club, and the Salvation Army Angel Tree. Extra-curricular activities and school clubs throughout his high school years include the FBLA, National Honor Society, UIL Social Studies and UIL Math & Science.  His sports include Junior Varsity Basketball, Junior Varsity Cross Country, and player on the Freshman Basketball “A” Team. Eli has been active in civic and church as well as volunteer organizations during his high school years, including Youth Leadership Harlingen, Youth Group-First Baptist Church, Praise Band-First Baptist Church, and a junior volunteer for Valley Baptist Medical Center. His plans are to attend Notre Dame University and pursue a business administration degree as well as an MBA in graduate school.  He states that two of his personal goals are to become a CEO of a prestigious company and to use his gifts with other professionals on a team to create something meaningful while being challenged with decisions that make a positive influence in the world.



   Adrienne Margolies, daughter of Dr. Linda Alexander and Paul Margolies, is a senior at Harlingen High School South.  Adrienne attended St. Alban’s Episcopal Day School and Calvary Christian School. Adrienne’s scholastic achievements, recognitions and academic honors include: All “A” Honor Roll 9-12th grades and is ranked number three in her senior class. She has received a letterman jacket for top 10 percent for three consecutive years.  Adrienne has an outstanding achievement certificate in Pre-AP Studio Art and Theater Arts, AP World History where she received a “3” on the AP World History Exam as well as certificates of achievement in AP European History and Pre-AP World Geography.  She was the National Honor Society Homecoming Representative in her junior year and continues that honor as a senior.  National awards are “Who’s Who Among High School Students” for her 9th and 10th grade years and a National Honor Roll Member during these years as well.  She was selected to the Congressional Youth Leadership Council and attended the National Young Leaders State Conference her freshman year.  Adrienne also made it to Gymnastics level 8 regional which consist of six states during her sophomore year. Adrinne’s PTSA involvement includes student chairman of Arts in Education, helping with PTSA Reflections contests, open house and collecting fundraiser money. Extra-Curricular Activities and School Clubs are Palm Valley Gymnastics Competitive Team, Palm Valley Senior Dance Company, PTSA National Honor Society, Student Council, Key Club, Hawks for Christ, PSAT/SAT Prep Class and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.  Adrienne’s Civic, Church and Volunteer Organizations include the First United Methodist Church Youth Group, Valley Baptist Summer Student Volunteer her senior year, and a member of the Lower Valley Cotillion Club during her junior and senior year. Adrienne plans on attending the University of Notre Dame where she plans to study architecture.  She stated in her application that she ultimately wants to renovate and preserve historic buildings because the past is what has brought us to today.



   Cassandra Vallely is the daughter of Jim and Susan Vallely.  She is a senior at Harlingen High School.  She attended Jane W. Long Elementary and St. Paul Lutheran School. Cassandra’s scholastic and academic honors, recognitions and achievements include Top 10 percent of her class all four years, outstanding biology student (9th grade), outstanding English III student (10th grade), outstanding fashion marketing student (11th grade), UCA All Star Cheerleader (9th grade), Who’s Who Among American High School Students (grades 10th and 11th) National Honor Society and DECA State Competition participant. Cassandra’s PTSA Involvement includes serving as PTSA parliamentarian, PTSA vice president and PTSA Mardi representative. Cassandra participated in the following PTSA projects, Red Ribbon Week, tailgate party volunteer, Mardi Gras decorations, Thanksgiving basket distribution and the Christmas Shoe Box gift project. Cassandra is employed and works an average of 25 hours a week.  She is currently dually enrolled at TSTC and UTB.  She plans to attend Texas Christian University and major Fashion Marketing.

   Leah Wise is the daughter of David and Cristela Wise. Leah is a senior at Harlingen High School.  She attended Wilson Elementary and Gutierrez Middle School. Leah’s scholastic and academic honors, recognitions and achievements include Academic Patch for Top 10 percent; ranks 10th in her class of 463; placed third in Debate at the All District Debate tournament her freshman year; Outstanding American History Student, junior year; elected class president her freshman, junior and senior years; 2005 Snow Dance Princess (selected by teachers); elected Supreme Court Justice at the Lorenzo De Zavala Youth Legislative Leadership Conference, July 2006; Mardi Gras court member all four years; Mardi Gras Princess (1st runner up) senior year; Cardette Kick Company Award, July 2005; and Letterman Jacket for Cardettes, sophomore year.  Leah’s PTSA involvement includes assisting with Mardi Gras decorations every year. Leah’s extra-curricular activities and or school clubs include National Honor Society, Med-Ed of Cameron County, Chairperson ofstudent prom committee; UIL competitor for Ready Writing, Literary Criticism, Debate and Extemporaneous Speaking.  Leah’s civic, church and volunteer organizations include Leadership America Delegate; Relay for Life volunteer; Harlingen Youth Leadership; Beach-n-BikerFest volunteer (this event raises money for charitable organizations such as Family Crisis Center; Teach the Children and Maggie’s and Monica’s House); Immaculate Heart of Mary Church activities include Reader/Lector, Catholic confirmation class, Easter Passion Play, ACTS Retreat Participant, & Fiesta de Amistad volunteer.  Leah is employed as an Intern at the District Attorney’s office in San Benito where she works 20 hours a week. She is currently dually enrolled at TSTC and UTB.  Leah plans to attend the University of Texas, Austin and study Political Science and continue with Law School.



   Michael A. Gomez is a senior at Harlingen High School South and is the son of Frank and Esme Gomez.  He attended Treasure Hills Elementary and Coakley Middle School.  Michael’s scholastic achievements and honors include Honor Roll, National Technical Honor Society, the Texas Scholar Program and the Distinguished Achievement Program.  His PTSA involvement includes being in the Masquerade, volunteering and helping with the PTSA Christmas Project which included helping the Salvation Army and Boys Club as well as Homecoming and Rio Fest Activities. Michaels extra-Curricular Activities and School Clubs include being on the varsity soccer, track & field and cross country teams, PTSA membership all four years, a member of Key Club, the Olympic Development Program, Powder Puff, a certified referee for soccer and a member of the Arroyo Youth Soccer Club.  He is also involved with the Rio Valley Youth Soccer Association and the Houston Dynamo Player Development. His church and civic as well as volunteer organizations include the Humane Society of Harlingen, the Ronald McDonald House, Su Clinica Familiar, Adopt-A-Beach cleanup and the Relay for Life.  Others include the Soccer Booster Club, the Better Together Bible Study as well as RioFest.  When asked about why he wished to be selected as PTSA student of the month, Michael stated that he was self-motivated, ambitious and determined to do his best in all aspects of his life.  He also stated that he approached new challenges as opportunities for improvement and personal growth, and Michael plans to attend the University of New Mexico while playing the marvelous sport of soccer as he states, and study architecture and engineering.


   Carissa Cholick is the daughter of Tom and Donna Cholick. Carissa is a senior at Harlingen High School.  She attended St. Anthony’s and Calvary Christian Schools. Carissa’s scholastic and academic honors, recognitions and achievements include:Top 10% of her class, Honor Roll, Certificate of Achievement in Health Science, Nominated and attended National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine, Who’s Who Among High School Students, Texas Scholar, Tech Prep Scholar and Student Council President. Her PTSA involvement includes being a PTSA member.  Carissa’s extra-curricular Activities/School Clubs include volleyball, basketball, track and field, student council, National Honor Society, Art Association, Med-Ed Program, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and PTSA. Carissa’s civic and church involvement includes: Young Life of Harlingen, Lower  Valley Cotillion Club, St. Anthony’s Church, Trash Bash Beach Clean-up, MDA Telethon, Calvary Christian girl’s basketball team volunteer, HHS 2007 Summer Basketball volunteer, and Bible study. She is currently enrolled in classes thru TSTC.  She plans to attend the University of Houston or University of Texas at Dallas and major in Speech Pathology or Sports Medicine.



 

   Kelsey Omick, daughter of Holly Leatherman and John Omick is a senior at Harlingen High School South.  She attended St. Alban’s Day School and Coakley Middle School. Kelsey’s scholastic achievements include Top 10 percent of her class, National Technical Honor Society, Honor Roll, Who’s Who Among American High School Students, Pre-Ap and AP classes, Graduating Texas Scholar, National Honor Society and being nominated to attend the National Leadership Conference her sophomore year. Her PTSA involvements and activities include PTSA Historian, PTSA student of the month student chairman, member of PTSA all four years, collected money for Sunny Glen her junior year as well as masquerade court both her sophomore and junior class. Kelsey was also the PTSA special projects student chairman her freshman year. Her extra-curricular activities and school clubs include being Key Club President her junior year, Class Secretary 9-12th grades.  She was involved with Interact her freshman year, she was on the JV Tennis Team both her sophomore and junior year, Student Council, Tech Academy and is a member of Palm Valley Dance Co. She is also involved in many civic, church and volunteer organizations.  Kelsey has participated in the Lower Valley Cotillion, Relay for Life, Youth Leadership Harlingen, Youth Leadership Steering Committee, Feast of Sharing, Young Life, First United Methodist Church, children’s chapel volunteer as well as the Habitat for Humanity, Beach Clean Up and the Jerry Lewis Telethon. Kelsey stated in her application that being involved in other activities, such as PTSA, has made her a better person and helped reach her potential of what she is today.



   Angela Hayes is the daughter of Michael and Mona Hayes Angela is a senior at Harlingen High School.  She attended Calvary Christian and St. Paul Lutheran Schools. Angela’s scholastic and academic honors, recognitions and achievements include:  Top 10% and “A” Honor Roll all four years, Currently ranked 5th in her class.  Miss South Texas Youth Stock Show 2007, best history student, Daughters of the American Revolution essay award, and Homecoming Lady-in-Waiting (2004),
Her PTSA involvement includes being a PTSA member where she currently serves as treasurer, she has served as newsletter chairman and participated with Mardi Gras decorations, Mardi Gras coronation, teacher socials, Tailgate BBQ, HHS Open House, and PTSA membership drive. Angela’s extra-curricular activities/school clubs include:President of Key Club, National Honor Society, Vice-President of FFA, Lower Valley Cotillion Club, D.E.C.A. Freshman Class Treasurer, Cards for Christ, and swim team. Angela’s civic and church involvement includes:  Key Club, Church Youth Group, and volunteer for Children’s Ministry. Angela is employed and works an average of 18 hours a week.  She is currently enrolled in classes thru TSTC.  She plans to attend the University of Texas A & M University at College Station and major in Agricultural Engineering and Construction Science with a minor in Business.


   Lisa Marie Norman, daughter of Rosemarie B. Eben, is a senior at Harlingen High School South. Lisa attended Calvary Christian School for both elementary and middle school. Lisa’s scholastic achievements and honors include, National Honor Roll, Class Officer where she was named treasurer. Lisa was also involved in the Masquerade Court as well as the Tech Representative for the Texas Scholar/Distinguished Achievement Program. Lisa is serving as the Key Club Lt. Governor for the Texas-Oklahoma district board for the 2007-2008 school year. Lisa’s school activities and Clubs also include Girls Varsity Basketball, Girls Varsity Golf, the Lady Hawk Booster Club, the Lower Valley Cotillion Club, Key Club Treasurer, Hawks for Christ as well as Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). Lisa’s PTSA involvement has included cooking for Teachers Breakfasts as well as bringing snacks for multiple dances that have taken place.  Civic and community involvement includes the First Baptist Church Champs Camp Volunteer, Relay for Life, UNICEF, HEB Feast of Sharing, Toys for Tots, Sunny Glen Children’s Home American Cancer Society as well as a Soup Kitchen Volunteer and a First Baptist Church Vacation Bible School volunteer.  Lisa is also finding time to work an average of 20 hours per week. Lisa plans on attending Texas A&M College Station where she plans to major in International Business. When asked why she wished to be selected as a PTSA student of the month in her application, Lisa stated that “being selected as a PTSA Student of the Month is a huge honor that I have dreamt of since my freshman year.”



   Nicolette Wiesman is the daughter of Richard and Sherry Wiesman.  Nicolette is a senior at Harlingen High School.  She attended St. Albans and Calvary Christian Schools. Nicolette’s scholastic and academic honors, recognitions and achievements include: Top 10 percent of her class for the last 3 years and “A” honor roll for 6 consecutive semesters. She was selected to  National Young Leaders State Conference, Who’s Who Among American High School Athletes, Basketball All District 31-5A Second Team and Honorable Mention. Outstanding Academic  Achievement in Pre-AP Biology and Pre-AP World Geography.  Her PTSA Involvement includes: PTSA member where she currently serves as President. Her PTSA Involvement includes: PTSA member where she currently serves as President. Nicolette’s extra-curricular Activities/School Clubs include: Varsity Volleyball (3 yrs); Varsity Basketball (4 yrs); Varsity Track (2yrs); National Honor Society, Art Association, Student Council, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes and PTSA.  Nicolette’s civic and church involvement includes: Calvary Christian Camp, First Baptist Vacation Bible School, Loaves and Fishes volunteer, Harlingen Proud, Young Life of Harlingen, Coakley Middle School Volunteer and Lower Cotillion Club.  She is currently enrolled in classes thru TSTC.  She plans to attend Texas A & M and major in education and kinesiology.



   Cassandra Swanberg, daughter of Derrick and Cheryl Lee Swanberg is a senior at Harlingen High School South and attended St. Alban’s Episcopal Day School for Kinder, Treasure Hills Elementary (1st -5th) and Coakley Middle School.
Cassandra’s scholastic achievements include Top 10% of her Class, Harlingen South Highest Honor Roll, National Honor Society Member and a member of the National Technical Honor Society.  She has been rewarded with outstanding accomplishments in Pre-AP English, Spanish, Chemistry, Algebra, World Geography, Biology, Chemistry, Pre-Calculus and Physics as well as AP English and US History. Cassandra placed in District UIL for news writing and feature writing her freshman year. She also placed in the individual Tip-O-Tex District FFA Greenhand Quiz throughout her Freshman, Sophomore and Junior Year.  Cassandra placed in Region Treble Choir, Division 2 Solo and Ensemble, 5th Chair in soprano Region Treble Choir, Division1 Solo and Ensemble, and was State Qualifier for solo and ensemble.  Cassandra placed first in the Individual South Texas Invitational Nursery Landscape CDE her Junior Year as well as numerous Individual Nursery and Landscape awards during her years at Harlingen High School South.  She won 1st place AOB Steer award in the Willacy County Terminal Livestock Show her sophomore year and placed 2nd in her Junior Year. Cassandra was also named student of the month during her freshman year at Rio Grande Valley Arts Studio and was a Lower Valley Cotillion Debutant her Junior Year. Extra-curricular involvement includes Varsity Choir Member, Region Treble Choir, Solo and Ensemble, Harlingen South FFA member, FFA Quiz Team Member, Key Club, FFA Nursery/Landscape Team State competitor, District Literary UIL Competitor, FFA Entomology team state competitor.  She was also the Harlingen South FFA Vice President and the Tip-O-Tex District FFA secretary her junior year.  Cassandra has raised steers, been a Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show Exhibitor, a Willacy County Country Classic Livestock Show Director, A member of the Harlingen Beef Club, a 2006 Homecoming Bonfire Crew members as well as the 2006 Tip-O-Tex Leadership Camp Director.  Currently, her senior year includes being the Harlingen south FFA President, National Technical Honor Society Vice President, and the Tip-O-Tex District FFA Treasurer as well as maintaining membership in clubs mentioned previously.  Cassandra’s civic, church and volunteer organizations include People to People Student Ambassador Program to New Zealand and Australia, 4-H member Dollars for Darfur, Preprofessional Level Ballet, Relay for Life, Rio Reforestation, Feast of Sharing, and the Youth Leadership Harlingen.  Cassandra has been a member of PTSA all 4 years and attends meetings regularly.  Cassandra stated that throughout her entire education, she has strived to be the best person that she could possibly be.  She plans to attend the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and plans to study Natural Sciences or Physics.  She then plans to pursue a Master Degree.



   Hannah Linn is the daughter of Richard and Starla Linn. Hannah is a senior at Harlingen High School.  She attended Calvary Christian School. Hannah’s scholastic and academic honors, recognitions and achievements include: National Honor Society, “A” Honor Roll and Top 1% all 4 years, Top 10 Award for 2007, Who’s Who Among American High School Students, World Geography Academic Award 2005, Physics Academic Award 2007, UIL Theater Arts All Star Cast 2007, PTSA Student Involvement Award 2006, Mardi Gras Court Sophomore and Jr. Year, 2005-2006 Homecoming Representative, Home coming Princess 2006 and Homecoming Queen 2007. Her PTSA involvement includes: PTSA member where she currently serves as College Night chairman.  She has served and participated as: Student Activities chairman 2005, 2007. Team Captain for Relay for Life (2 years), Team captain for American Heart Walk (2 years); Red ribbon Week Chairman (2 years); Coordinated delivery of Thanksgiving baskets to HHS Homebound Students, (2 years); School assembly organizer and liaison (1 yr). Loaves and fishes decorating chair, (2 yrs);Hannah’s extra-curricular activities/school clubs include:  Volleyball (4yrs); Basketball (2yrs); Track and Field (3yrs); National Honor Society, Student Council, Media Tech: Cardinal News and Nonsense, Media Club, Art Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Lower Cotillion Club, HHS Beautification Committee, and HHS Student Representative for the Harlingen Public Library. Hannah’s civic and church involvement includes: Ronald McDonald House volunteer, Loaves and Fishes volunteer, Vacation Bible School volunteer, Teen RioFest Board, Young Life Harlingen, Youth Leadership Harlingen, Praise and Worship Leader, Mexico Mission and Panama Mission Trips. She is currently enrolled in classes thru TSTC. She plans to attend Trinity University/Evangel University and major in communications (Television/Radio) and vocal performance.
