To meet the demand for these new technology skill among educators and administrators, The University of Texas System is offering an online Master of Education in Educational Technology beginning Fall 1999. Yes, an online master's degree.

The consortium of faculty lending their insight and understanding toward this collaborative degree includes information media, instructional technology, and telecommunications leaders from several University of Texas campuses. The University of Texas at Brownsville will serve as home campus and will confer your MEd degree upon successful completion of this unique program. UT Austin, UT El Paso and other campuses will contribute courses.

Online courses will be offered via the UT TeleCampus, a service-oriented support center that facilitates high quality distance education among The University of Texas System students, faculty and staff. Access to the site is open to the public. You'll find a virtual campus complete with the services and resources associated with on-campus learning. Though access to courses is limited to enrolled students, anyone can utilize the extensive digital libraries, student services, administrative offices and bookstores.

Although you are welcome to visit any university campus, no onsite attendance is required with this degree program. Courses are taught utilizing the best of several asynchronous technologies. All materials will be delivered via the Web and additional distance education tools including CD-ROM's, audio and video tapes, e-mail and chat rooms.
Customize your degree The 36-degree plan offers a thesis n non-thesis track and allows for the customization you need as an information specialist. This degree curriculum and instruction and 12 hours of student electives, pending department approval. As a student, you can customize your degree plan to meet your individual professional interests and goals, whether that interest is content specific such as science or mathematics or more general, such as program administration or network communications. Prior master's-level work may transfer as credit toward the 12 hours of electives. You may complete the degree in as little as two years or as many as six.
