Grade Level/Subject: Second Grade/ Social Studies

Purpose:
To help students identify important events in the lives of Presidents George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.

Objectives:
With Grade 2 TEKS
Create a chart stating why we celebrate George Washington and Abraham Lincoln’s birthdays, TEKS 2.1A

Identify 3 events in George Washington and Abraham Lincoln’s lives that made them great, TEKS 2.3A.

Create a timeline showing events in the lives of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln from birth to death, TEKS 2.2C.

Evaluate by creating a slide show using Kid Pix Deluxe, Teks 2.3A,B.

Procedures:
Create a web with the students that will state why we celebrate President’s Day.

Fill in the K-W-L chart ( you can make a copy) with information the students know and want to know about Presidents Washington and Lincoln. On the third column of the K- W- L chart students will fill after research has been completed.
