TIF TECHNICAL TRAINING






As a member of the TIF Technical Training group from Ben Milam Elementary School we attended a two day session on the Technical aspect of computer literacy. This training was required in order to comply with the TIF Grant which provided our campus with 55 new computers. 
 

Purpose:

  • An awareness of the basic components and functions of the infrastructure
  • An understanding of the components in a personal computer
  • A fundamental guidance of computer troubleshooting 
  • An opportunity to identify, retrieve, and evaluate various types of technical resources available on the internet


Day One:
Purpose:
To acquaint ourselves with the components of local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs)

The training syllabus was provided by the TIF Board.
 
 

Day Two:
Purpose:

  • Identify the components of a generic personal computer
  • Explore end-user computing and computer platform enter-operability
  • Set up work stations for internet connectivity
  • Understand some basic concepts of PC troubleshooting
  • Construct a web page with resource links and action plans
