Introduction 
The students have just returned to school from Spring Break.  Pilly, Room 71's pet caterpillar, has disappeared.  Who kidnapped him from his habitat?!?   Where has he gone?  As junior detectives your job is to conduct an investigation into Pilly's disappearance to find out what you think has happened. 
 

Task

Help solve this mystery by investigating the life of a caterpillar.  Your teacher wants you to:

• read or listen to selected literature
• visit preselected sites to obtain important information
• learn the 4 stages of a caterpillar's life and related vocabulary
• identify and label an illustration showing these stages by creating a "Lost and Found" poster for Pilly
• visit a cool science site, read the directions and create a puppet
