INTRODUCTION

Have you ever soared in an airplane or sailed the open seas in a boat?   How about riding the rails on a locomotive?  These are just a few types of transportation you will be exploring and learning more about.

TASK

Your task will be to complete a travel log about the four kinds of transportation.   To do this, you and your partner will locate information and learn about the different ways to get from place to place. Click here to get your travel log.  You will have the chance to complete activities that you and your partner find interesting.  Teamwork is very important.  Remember to click the back arrow to return to these instructions after each activity.

PROCESS
The four types of transportation we will be talking about are: cars, airplanes, boats and trains.

Cars
1.Teammates, race on over to Garrett's garage to learn more about automobiles.  Choose two activities to complete.  Complete the section on cars in your travel log.

2. Take a rest and color a car online.

Airplanes

1.Buzz on over to the airplane hangar.  Read the fact page to find out what are two ways airplanes are used.  Write your answers in your travel log.

2.Click here to watch airplanes in action.

Boats

1.Sail on over to the ferry boat site to see pictures and read about ferry boats.

2.Return to the ferry boat site and read the facts page with your teammate.  Use the information to fill out the Ferry Boat Information Guide in your travel log.

Trains

1. Ride the rail to the Train Depot and gather useful facts about railroad cars.  Draw a train in your travel log and lable each train car correctly.

2. Learn what train whistles mean by visiting Train Talk.  Write down one example of a train whistle message in your travel log.

EVALUATION
When your travel log is complete, turn it in to your teacher.  You will be sharing your work as a team with the class when all students have finished their web quests.
